The shoestring unwound from an alternative space: the knotted ball of culture's loose ends. I'm am concerned with it's line--the path of the string--how it seem to extend infinitley beyond the picture plane, careening downwards into the viewer's aesthetic space. The lines of the image can be transplanted onto an internal landscape--the diagnol creates a rigid space, the organic path constructs an undulating emotive terrain apt to earthquakes and other geographical seizures. And then the parallel lines of the shoe string--the organic paths constructing either side. How they can't seem to escape each other. And then there's the shapes that hover like inclinations, unindulged--the amorphous rubber toe, the rectangular sil of the window.
